Health Benefits of Chocolate
Researchers have discovered great news for chocolate lovers. Eating moderate amounts of chocolate on a daily basis can actually help keep blood pressure down and improve cardiovascular health.

In a study presented in February 2002 at the American Association for the Advancement of Science, it was found that eating flavonoid-rich foods improves heart health and helps lower blood pressure. Flavanoids are plant compounds with strong antioxidant properties. Chocolate contains this flavonol. In fact, researchers even found that consumption of chocolate products is similar to consumption of low-dose aspirin in promoting healthy blood flow. (Patti Schmidt ImmuneSupport.com)

Types of Chocolate
Dark chocolate is by all accounts richer in flavol and contains less sugar. This chocolate contains no dairy products so it is an excellent choice for the lactose intolerant. It is made of a minimum of 15% chocolate liquor (the liquid form of the chocolate bean, not alcoholic). Sweeteners and cocoa butter are added in amounts determined by the manufacturer.
Milk chocolate contain milk solids and at least 10% chocolate liquor.
White chocolate contains no chocolate liquor, thus making it caffeine-free. It is mostly composed of sweeteners, cocoa butter, flavorings, and milk solids.
Carob is a "healthy " chocolate alternative that is derived from a carob bean. It contains no caffeine, and lacks the ingredient theobromine which is known to cause allergies. It is made of milk liquids and carob powder but contains no sweeteners or cocoa butter as it is naturally sweet.
